Bullying at the Pine Street Inn

August 2, 2014

This morning, a female guest of the Pine Street Inn who started bullying me over the past week coughed at me right in front of a Pine Street Inn employee.

I went to the office a few minutes later to tell that employee that the guest had been bullying me for a while.  As soon as I said the word "bullying," the employee got an exasperated look on her face and said "You need to report it right when it happens."  I said "That's what I'm doing; she coughed at me right in front of you."  The employee denied that the harassment had happened.  She then said "Just stay away from each other."  I said "I'm not trying to be around her; she harasses me."  She said "I'll report it, but you need to stay away from each other or you'll both get barred."  I said "I'm not doing anything to her!"

It's not my fault that sexual harassment and other bullying are constant problems at the Pine Street Inn or anywhere else.  It's not my fault that I am a particular target of that bullying.  It's not my fault that another guest of the shelter decides to persistently bully me every week.  When I report the incidents to staff, no staffperson should automatically treat me as if I'm being a pest or am equally at fault with the bully.

The people about whom I talk to staff aren't the only guests of the shelter who sexually harass or otherwise try to bully me; they are the people who are particularly persistent and vicious with their bullying, and with whom there never seems to be any other interaction possible except for my being in my involuntary role of their target and their being in their chosen roles of antagonizers, even if I never approach them in any way at all.

Many people harass me at the shelter every day, whenever they feel like it.  It's not unusual for someone to be friendly toward me and then rub her nose or cough at me an hour later or the next day, because she's in a bad mood, feels spiteful or feels like taking out her life's frustrations on someone.  If I went to staff every time a guest of the shelter harassed me or was otherwise nasty to me for no reason, I'd be in the office all day and at various hours of every night.

In addition to putting every woman in the world at the dubious mercy of every man, the conglomerate's tyrannical war on women has created several new ways for women to be nasty to other women.  That women who make use of those inappropriately aggressive, degrading behaviors toward other women are degrading themselves and eroding their own freedoms never seems to occur to the female bullies; their ignorance or denial of the significance of their behavior doesn't lessen the negative effects of the bullying on their targets.

Also this morning; a staffperson walked into the building wearing a grey t-shirt with three, large letters written on the front of it.  The last two letters are "GK," and the first letter is something that has a star in the middle of it.

I am not a pornography star.  I am a victim of voyeurism.  Nothing could ever have caused me to consent to the videos that have been filmed of me; there is no amount of money that anyone could have ever offered me to consent to that filming, and there's nothing that anyone can say about it that makes it something other than sexual assault.  There is nothing flattering about being the victim of sexual assault, and all attempts to pretend that there is are further degradations of and insults to the victim.

When was the last time that anyone at Hearst's/ABC's WCVB, or any other conglomerate media, read about professional, journalistic ethics from a creditable source?

YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HURT PEOPLE FOR NO REASON, AND YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO NOT CARE WHEN YOU DO HURT PEOPLE FOR NO REASON!

You're not supposed to spread rumors.  You're not supposed to assassinate people's characters.  You're not supposed to corrupt the public's morals.  You're not supposed to lie, whether blatantly or with insinuation.  You're not supposed to invade or otherwise abuse someone's privacy for no reason; lewd entertainment does not qualify as a reason to destroy someone's privacy.

You are supposed to report real and important information accurately, truthfully, and responsibly.  That is what you are paid to do.

Why aren't corporations contributing money to help immigrant minors?

August 2, 2014

Corporations have plenty of money for everything except the world's future?

Of course, if corporations do contribute money for the health and safety of runaways, those corporations must not use that situation as an opportunity to promote the conglomerate's agenda.

It seems to me that minors who end up around authorities should be considered accessible for improvement, and that this should be true no matter which authorities of which country are part of the situation.  Isn't the immigration crisis an opportunity for a lot of things?

--health screening

--dental screening, including getting dental records

--academic and other aptitude testing

--recruitment of future employees and/or building brand loyalty, for corporations that contribute funds or other resources

All information that is gathered about those minors while they are in the United States or in detention/help centers in their home countries can be transferred to their local health clinics and schools when they leave the centers.  If there are not local clinics and schools where they're from, shouldn't there be?

What are all of those minors doing while they're in the places where they're being kept now?  It never tends to be a good idea to let a bunch of kids sit around with nothing to do, especially those nearing puberty or who for whom puberty was a sign on the highway several miles ago.  There's no reason to have to send more minors back to where they're from than ran away in the first place.

If word got around that the detention/help centers are places where everyone has to wake up at 6:00 a.m., be in school at those centers for most of the day, do chores in the afternoon, then have an hour, at the most, of leisure time at night before having to be asleep early, that there's no television and almost no Internet, isn't there a chance that a lot of minors would decide not to take the trek?

The ones who did decide to emigrate, even knowing what they would have to do once they got to the centers, would probably be the nicer, smarter, more industrious type and not that difficult to help.

I did not get work from Labor Ready today.

August 1, 2014

Almost everyone else who was at the office when I was there this morning got work today, and I didn't.

"Shark Sightings"

August 1, 2014

There is also a poster on the counter at the Labor Ready in Quincy that says "Shark Sightings."  It shows a picture of a huge shark menacing a surfer.  It also says "Follow the rules and be safe."

The Labor Ready in Quincy

August 1, 2014

The Labor Ready in Quincy has a Homer Simpson cartoon on the counter.  The cartoon shows Homer Simpson standing next to a stack of barrels that have the biohazard symbol on them, watching a black man struggling, with his arms waving in the air, after he has fallen halfway through a hole that the spilled contents of one of the barrels have eaten through the floor.  The caption on the cartoon is "Report It," meaning "Report safety hazards at work."

I looked up to think about what I was going to say next; one of the other Labor Ready employees who is sitting across the room from me was looking at me, and he rubbed his nose.

I have reported safety hazards about every place where I have worked since the conglomerate began its assaults on women's rights in 2010, and they haven't stopped.  Actually, what usually happens is that I get fired.

"A beach on the lake on the water; HA HA HA!"

August 1, 2014

I think that's what I just heard when I walked past the television, which is showing WCVB news.

After all this time, they have no idea what I'm talking about, have not thought about any of what has happened, do not understand how the things that started happening in 2010 have led to the erosion of the rights of everyone, even the privacy rights and other real freedoms of white men.
