Gestures and symbols fall within the definition of sexual harassment

September 21, 2014

You don't have to say the words "vagina," "vaginal smell" or "vaginal fluid" to be sexually harassing someone; the gestures and symbols that mean those things are sexual harassment when they are addressed to someone in an inappropriate setting and in an inappropriate way.

An example of an appropriate way in an appropriate setting is when you are having mutually consenting sex with someone and there is no question that whatever gesture you're making or symbol you're showing is something that the person is all right with.

Pretty much every other setting besides that example and its mutually consenting variations, and a gynecologist's office, is inappropriate.
