ISIS has CRUCIFIED people?!

September 3, 2014

The purpose of crucifixion is to cause pain, for the sake of causing pain.

Whenever people who claim to be religious have tortured people in the name of G-d, their goal has always been shown to be the fulfillment of the most anti-religious feeling of all; the desire to obtain or maintain inordinate, personal power by inspiring fear from everyone who witnesses the torture.

Reasonable people, no matter their religion, would rather be respected than feared.

Why is today the first time that I have heard about ISIS having crucified people?  Why did I get that information from reading online about ISIS, instead of from a Boston television news show or the front page of a Boston newspaper?  How many other people in the United States haven't heard about it, or about ISIS's various tortures and murder not only of adults but also of children?

I never choose the channel of the television at the Pine Street Inn.  The news station that is almost always broadcasting through that television is WCVB.  Even if all I do is walk past the television a few times in the morning or at night, I am likely to hear conglomerate code from a news show, or an ad, or a show that is supposed to be entertainment.  The code is usually being delivered with much smugness, whether the vehicle delivering it is meant to be funny or serious in the mocking way that characterizes the conglomerate's twisting of tragedy to promote its agenda.

It seems to me that almost everyone who is making the decisions about what gets broadcast on television or published in print media is too obsessed with trying to make rape legal to care about educating the public about what's happening in the world, or entertaining other parts of the human psyche than its worst instincts.
