Anyone with a knife and a camera can cut someone's head off and film it. Murder doesn't require diplomacy. It doesn't require strategy. It doesn't require intelligence, or learning, or religious sincerity.
It doesn't require creativity. It doesn't require bravery. It doesn't require honesty or empathy or endurance.
It requires the absence and the hatred of all of those things. It requires that a person be dwindled to the least a human being can be.
I don't believe in Satan, but if there were a Satan, the beheading threats and videos and all acts of cruelty and senseless violence would have him dancing with joy. This is not the first time in history that the worst of human nature has masqueraded as religiousness.
