YMCA

September 9, 2014

This is a picture of a large ad next to the front desk at the YMCA.

What's the compliment going to be?  "Kid, you're so smart, we might both learn how to spell?"

Ordinarily, it's rude to mention people's spelling errors when they haven't asked for your editing help.  However, that Y has mistreated me, and there are also a lot of things around it sexualizing children. Also, the ad in this picture is supposed to be talking about the help with school that children will get at the Y; the spelling error is a big error, considering the context.

The opinion of people who have abused me has no meaning for me.  The cause of my anger is that I know that they have no right to treat me that way, yet they do.  Severe ridicule is a form of abuse, and much of the attitude that drives it is that I deserve it because I'm stupid.
