That's the rule, apparently created this morning.
I'm a night person; since I was a kid, I was never someone who wanted to go to sleep early and wake up early. I tried to take an 8:00 a.m. class once when I was in college; I had to drop it or I would have failed it because of lack of attendance.
Probably, my sleeping habits in college had a lot to do with all of the sedating psychiatric medication that I was being prescribed for no reason. There were weeks when I could not get out of bed. People who have gotten medicated that way know what I'm talking about.
I'm sure that everyone who has a respite bed at this unit takes medication at night that causes sleepiness in the morning. I often am out of the building all day; sometimes, I don't get to the building until 8:00 p.m. I would have to take meds by 9:00 p.m.,at the latest, to be able to get up at 8:00 a.m.
The groups in the resource center in this building don't start until 10:00 a.m. Is there a reason that everyone at the unit has to wake up at 8:00 a.m., other than a management desire to impose control on me and invade my life in any way the management can think of?
I have almost entirely stopped asking for staff help in stopping the coughing at me by patients. I haven't stopped writing about it; publishing posts about it seems to be my only option for documenting the situation. Clearly, what the people who run this place want me to do is shut up and take whatever's forced on me, or be thrown out, or be subjected to one attempt after another to make the place less hospitable.
