How a past dysfunction helped me, and what I have to learn at a late time in life

December 19, 2013

I had a number of social problems for years, starting in my late teens, after I was hospitalized for the first time and, because of that and subsequent hospitalizations, lost all of my confidence about who I was and could be.  One of those problems was not knowing how to deal with it when a love interest, particularly one who had treated me badly, had shown that he wasn’t interested any more.

A good thing about how I reacted in those situations is that I was spared the scenario of bad men regretting their decisions to get rid of me, and I never had to figure out how to deal with them trying to get me to date them again.

Unfortunately, that also means that I don’t automatically know what to do when bad men keep trying to get me to date them.
