Male coughing in the hallway outside my room. I am at risk for being assaulted.

December 22, 2014

There are two male patients who harass me a lot.  Sometimes they harass me at the same time.

The one who does the coughing all day, early in the morning, and throughout the evening, is loud and offensive.  However, he is not the one of the two who I think more likely to physically attack me.  He is obviously very disturbed and I don't know if he has the mental capacity to coordinate an assault.

I think the other one might have that capacity, though.

It is disgusting that I can get no help from staff for stopping his behavior.  It is even more disgusting that I am treated as if I'm doing something wrong when I ask for that help.

Most predators like to do things in stages.  They lead up to their attacks by pushing the limits and finding out what they can get away with.  The people who harass me at this unit have gotten away with everything, so far.  They have gotten away with it, and they have seen me ridiculed and punished for asking for help stopping them.
