Sleep deprivation

July 28, 2014

Frequently over the past few weeks, when I publicly object to being sexually harassed by staff at the Pine Street Inn, I don't get a bed the next night through the supposedly random lottery.

When I don't get a bed, I have to sleep in the lobby.  Guests who sleep in the lobby are not able to sleep until 10:00 p.m., when the lobby closes, and they have to get up at 4:15 a.m. the next morning.  Guests who get beds can sleep as soon after 6:00 p.m. as they are able to take the obligatory shower and get ready to sleep in their beds.  They also don't have to get up until 6:00 a.m. the next morning.

I think that it's good that the guests who get beds have to take showers before they are even allowed to go into the bed areas of the dorm.  I think that it's good that people who don't get beds are able to take showers if they want to take them.

If there are hidden and illegal video cameras in the bathrooms and showers of the Pine Street Inn and other shelters, I think that's a horrible violation of every homeless person and it is a terrible crime.
