The sermon at Trinity Church this morning started with a discussion of children eating cherry pie and mint chocolate chip ice cream. The sermon did not improve.
The sermon, being a sermon, was planned to be public. Sermons are part of the task of a professional minister.
I am at the Boston Public Library. A man just grunted at me from across the room.
The person who wrote and delivered the sermon had every other way in the world to talk about the concept of gratitude, and he probably had time to think about what he wanted to say. He chose coded language that was degrading to women and promoting of crime.
There were children in the choir that sang at that church this morning. Someone should probably investigate the church for child sexual abuse and other sexual abuse. The investigation should probably include looking for cameras in the bathrooms. If cameras are found, the church should probably be made to give all recordings to law enforcement, who should, unfortunately, watch them for evidence of sexual abuse of children happening in the bathrooms.
A lot of tourists visit that church. If Trinity Church has violated the privacy of its visitors with cameras in the bathrooms, there should be a way for the victims from other countries to contact embassies in the United States, or their own governments at home, for information about their options for getting criminal and civil justice.
