Why don't I do that today in the bathroom of the shelter, in front of all the homeless women walking in and out of the bathroom while I'm there?
That's how I have to do it, or be hairy, or try to shave one section of leg per night during the 10 minutes of shower that every homeless woman gets. Literally, it's a 10-minute shower; that's what gets yelled throughout the evening. "10 MINUTES, LADIES, HURRY UP, THERE ARE PEOPLE WAITING!"
There is a shower requirement every night, if you get a bed through the lottery. I think that's good. I'm not arguing with the shower requirement; the Pine Street Inn is the only shelter where I have ever stayed that has a shower requirement, and it is, not coincidentally, the cleanest of all the shelters. There aren't enough showers, though. There also aren't enough lockers.
